His Holiness Subhag Swami Maharaj visited our small “Bhakti Centre” on the Gold Coast.  The local Devotees gathered for the Special Program.  He gave a Lecture on Krishna Consciousness and how we could serve or get involved in the Devotional Services.

Biography of SUBHAG SWAMI MAHARAJ at the Bhaktivedanta Institute:

Born in Kolkata, His Holiness Subhag Swami received graduate degree from the University of Calcutta.   He joined International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in 1971.  To date, Subhag Swami has translated many books written by Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder Acharya of ISKCON from English to Bengali including Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Teachings of Lord Kapila, Prayers to Queen Kunti, Easy Journey to Other Planets, Matchless Gifts, Teachings of Lord Caitanya, Isopanishad, Nectar of Instruction and On the way to Krsna.  Subhag Swami also translated Caitanya Mangala from Bengali to English, a popular book among followers of Bhaktivedanta theological tradition.   He is presently working on translation of Ananda Vrndavan Campu written by Srila Kavi Karnapura from Sanskrit to English.

His Holiness Subhag Swami is one of the senior  most monks (sannyasis) of ISKCON and stays at Mayapur, West Begal, India.

Whenever Subhag Swami met Srila Prabhupada, Prabhupada used to be very affectionate with him and spoke to him in Bengali. For the western disciples who have never heard Srila Prabhupada speaking Bengali, it was a unique scene to witness Prabhupada speaking in Bengali and after their conversation, the disciples used to surround Subhag Maharaja to ask what Srila Prabhupada spoke to him. He also said that Maharaja is always simple, humble and ornamented with all the Vaishnava qualities.

HH Subhag Swami Maharaja Ki Jai!
